| I was born in a small city in Northeastern China. After graduating from high school I entered Tsinghua University and chose Biological Sciences as my major. During undergraduate years I investigated the mechanisms governing cilia growth in unicellular algae Chlamydomonas reinhardtii using genetic and biochemical approaches. I studied several mutants deficient in ciliar disassembly and finally cloned one novel gene involved in retrograde IFT. My interest in biology grew through my high school and college years, yet until now I have not make it specified. For my graduate study I tend to concentrate on molecular and structural biology, which I think is a very basic branch of biological sciences. Hopefully progress in this realm would provide more clues for our research into severe human diseases.
As to my future plan, I'd like to stay within the academic circle because here I could work with the smartest people across the world. Besides science, I also have strong passions for classical music, geography and history.
