I'm a New Englander hailing from Boston,
Massachusetts. I graduated from Vassar College, a small liberal arts school,
with a degree in Biochemistry. During my undergraduate career, I worked in a few
different labs, but mostly focused on studying cell signaling pathways involved
in early development. My most recent project involved characterizing leptin
receptor expression in developing
Xenopus laevis tadpoles. I'm
looking forward to finding my niche in the diverse world of cell and molecular
biology at Columbia.
I have an encyclopedic
knowledge of heavy metal music from 1970-present (which may or may not be a
healthy thing). My mom instilled in me a love for Italian cooking (it's a lot
like doing bench work, only you get to eat it when it's done), and I diligently
collect new recipes whenever possible. I love the ocean, cheesy action/sci-fi
movies, open source software, good fiction, and the Muppets.
