Professor Snyder Receives Cottrell Scholar Award

The chemistry department congratulates Professor Scott Snyder on receiving a 2009 Cottrell Scholar Award. The award is given by the Research Corporation, a nonprofit foundation dedicated to the support of research in the physical sciences at U.S. and Canadian colleges and universities. The highly-competitive Cottrell Scholar Awards are intended for junior faculty who have demonstrated a commitment to excellence at both teaching and research. The awards help the recipients in their journey to become tomorrow's academic and scientific leaders. They also are intended to reinforce faculty mentoring and build appreciation for instruction in university science departments. Professor Snyder will receive the award of $100,000 in one installment, to be used at his discretion within the guidelines of the award program. He will also use a portion of the award to support travel to attend Cottrell Annual Scholar conferences. More information can be found on the Research Corporation website.
