| Admissions |
The Department of Chemistry welcomes applications from prospective graduate students who intend to pursue a Ph.D. degree. We do not offer a master's program in chemistry. The basic requirement for admission to the Ph.D. program is substantial undergraduate training in chemistry. This requirement is interpreted broadly. All applicants must take the Graduate Record Examination and the Advanced Test in Chemistry. Applicants whose native language is not English must also take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
Applications for the autumn term should be submitted by December 15 of the prior year, but late applications will be considered. The Department rarely admits students for the spring term.
Students may contact individual professors about their research programs. Faculty publications and research descriptions are available in the ACS Directory of Graduate Research.
